One of the benefits of reading is that it expands your view on other books.
From reading different books in this course I've come to appreciate other types of books that i thought i never would give the time of day. Romance novels like Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon made me see the significance of other types of novels besides action ones. I still might not like the romance part of the novels but I can come to appreciate them and like other parts of the novels like the humor they offer and respecting why other people like the genre. Another book that was sorta out of my comfort zone was Me Earl And The Dying Girl. At first i thought a girl about getting cancer and dying would not be an enjoyable book at all but it turns out the book had a lot of humor in it and it was a really enjoyable book.
Another benefit of reading is that it increases your vocabulary.
Reading a wide variety of books increases your vocabulary immensely. Reading books like Ender Games and Divergent helped broaden my vocabulary which really helps out in life. Advanced vocabulary will benefit greatly in the future because it makes you seem educated to others, especially to peers. It will also help out in college and applying for jobs because the more sophisticated you sound the better chance of you getting into the college or job you are applying for.
Last benefit of reading is that it helps us learn.
Reading in doesn't just teach us vocabulary but about people and the world around us. Books can teach us life lessons too and change how we view the world as a whole. For example, Divergent by Veronica Roth, taught me that society can not work out if it is split apart. Society's work because everyone trusts each other and work together to get things done but in Divergent the different fractions start to not trust each other and it just ends up having a massive war between the whole fractions and society as a whole. Another example of books teaching a new meaning to life is in Me and Earl and the Dying Girl when you have a new prospective on life when a girl who has cancer is the main focus of the book. You learn that even in a bad position like that life can still be enjoyable and honestly makes you enjoy life a lot more seeing how fortunate you are.

The genre I had was Thriller/Suspense. This genre leaves readers on the edge of their seats and uses suspense to lure the reader in. Thrillers use elements like foreshadowing to keep the audience interested and usually focuses on one major conflict. I personally like this genre due to the amount of action in these types of books. In a lo of Thriller books there's a lot of story and action going on and less boring small talk that you see in other novels like romances. Another reason these books appeal to people and why its so popular is because of the feeling it gives you. A lot of people like the feeling of being on the edge of their seats and being thrilled but don't want to actually be in those circumstances where danger id evident. A couple of books i have read in this genre have been To Kill a Mocking Bird, Divergent, and The Da Vinci Code. I didn't expect To Kill a Mocking Bird to be considered a thriller because i never really thought of it as a action novel but it actually is considered a Legal Thriller. I also didn't expect Thrillers to date back all the way to the B.C Days and even fairy tales like the Little Red Riding Hood.
The book I read for the genre project was The Da Vinci Code. Traits of Thriller found in this book includes foreshadowing, suspense, and murder. I thought the book was very interesting and I didn't expect it to be a book I would enjoy. I liked the mystery around the whole book and the plot twist at the end really came out of no where which I really liked. I would recommend this book to people who enjoy Thrillers which i would think is a lot of people since the genre is so popular. Also people who like mystery books would really enjoy this since thats the whole premise of the book.
A genre that i felt would be for me from the presentations i saw was the graphic novel genre. To be honest reading is not a thing i do often and just reading a 300 page book is just boring to me and i can't really keep the attention to finish it. I like this genre cause there isn't nearly as much reading as other novels but pictures that tell the story instead. Its a lot easier to build a picture in your head of the book when you can see pictures and can really build the story a lot more. A genre that seemed not so good was the Political genre. I have no interest in reading or politics so when you put both of them together it gets even worse. Two things I learned from the presentations is that graphic novels seem to be the books I would enjoy the most and Donald Trump had bad policies.

The Book Thief, by Markus Zusak, is a fictional historic drama that is about a young girl named Liesel who steals books from the Nazi army who plan on burning them due to censorship reasons. Liesel and her family then take in a young Jewish boy to protect him and give him shelter away from the Nazis. This puts the family at great risk of getting in trouble. I'm reading this book because a good friend of mine told me he read it over the summer and really enjoyed it. I really like how the book is about the Holocaust because I always found that to be an interesting period of time. Its cool seeing the main character risk her just to steal books away from the evil Nazis. The only thing I don't really care for the book is the length of it and the pointless awkward metaphors/similes it has. Anyone who is interested in WWII or the Holocaust should definitely read this book. Also people who are into to historical dramas would love this too. I give it 4/5 Stars!

I'm the type of reader who does not like reading. I don't think i have ever read a book on my own time that i didn't have to. If i had to read a book the genres that sound interesting would be sci fi, adventure, horror, adventures. The book i am currently reading is Me And Earl And the Dying Girl. Its about a dying girl who has cancer and its very humorous. Also my favorite book was Othello cause it was very cool and short and i like tragedy. I read mostly at school and almost never at my house since i'm busy with other things. Maybe when I am older and less busy and have more free time I will read more.
